School subject Olympiads
School subject Olympiads are very popular among students in Latvia. One of the goals of Olympiads is to stimulate enthusiasm for different school subjects.
There are school Olympiads on different school subjects. The first stage is school Olympiads, the second – district ones, the third – state Olympiads. The successful performance of students in school allows them to participate in school subject Olympiads. The best students of Latvia participate in state or International subject Olympiads.
Latvian students this year very successfully participated in six international subject Olympiads and got a gold medal in the International Olympiad in Informatics, one silver, one bronze medal and the Honourable Mention in the International Mathematics Olympiad, one silver medal and two bronze medals in the International Chemistry Olympiad, a silver medal in the International Environmental Project Olympiad, two bronze medals in the International Biology Olympiad, two bronze medals and Honourable Mention in the International Physics Olympiad.
